Langtang valley trek is one of the most fine, tea-house type and remote trekking destination lying near the Kathmandu valley. Like most of other mountain valley Langtang valley also called valley of glacier has its own story of origination According to a legend, its believed that a lama following a runaway yak discovered the valley, hence the name -Lang which literally means yak in Tibetan and Tang or more currently "Dhang" means to follow. Langtang valley trek takes you all the way from the lowland valley of Dhunche to the highest elevation of 3800m (Kyangjing Gompa).
As you enter the valley you will discover the heavenly beauty of the land with its rushing rivers and lush forests. Langtang National Park shows impressive landscapes, with more than 1000 plants, birds exceeding 150 species of numerous other mammals. Designated a national park in 1976, the Langtang valley is the second largest national park of Nepal. A trek to this isolated region offers an opportunity to explore ancient villages, a wide range of animals (wild dog, red pandas, pika, muntjac, musk deer, Himalayan black bear, Himalayan tahr, goral, serow, rhesus monkey and common langur) and offers you the beautiful scenery of pristine lakes including holy lakes of Gosainkunda- one of the popular pilgrimage site, dense forest, swift mountain streams, rugged rocky mountain and snow-capped peaks, emerald hills and dales and wild animals and many more. Culturally it’s rich in many artful monasteries. One can climb famous peaks and visit glittering ice lakes or glorious glaciers at comfortable relatively at low elevations. This trek offers you superb views of the great peak of Langtang Lirung (7246m) which dominates the upper valley of Langtang and touches the Tibetan border.
Day 01: Arrive / Transfer to Hotel / briefing / Free
Day 02 : From Kathmandu we drive to Dunche which will take about 9 hours of continuous drive. Overnight in teahouse.
Day 03 :Our actual trekking starts from Dunche. From here we trek to Syabru for about 5 hrs. Overnight in teahouse.
Day 04 :We trek from Syabru to Lama hotel. This will take about 6 hrs of walk. Overnight in teahouse. The trekking trail passes through the number of small villages and pristine forests.
Day 05: We trek from Lama hotel to Langtang valley. This will take about 6 hrs of walk. Overnight in teahouse. A short ascend from lama hotel will take us to the Langtang valley where you can see yaks grazing at meadows.
Day 06: We ascend up climbing for about 3 hour from Langtang valley to reach Kyanging Gompa (3800m) which is the highest access of this trek. Here you can explore the beautiful Buddhist monasteries built 400 years back and observe the magnificent close up view of Langtang Lirung Genjempol, Ganja La and Naya Kenga Himal ranges. You also get opportunity to climb Tsergo Ri (5033m). Overnight in teahouse
Day 07 :In Kyangjing Gompa (3800m) we spend a day as Rest day. Overnight in teahouse. You also get an opportunity to Explore the glacier and climb Tsergo Ri (5033m).
Day 08 : We trek back from Kyangjing Gompa (3800m) to Lama hotel. This will take about 6 hours of walking and overnight in teahouse
Day 09: We trek back from Lama hotel to Syabru Bensi this will take about 6 hrs of continuous walk. Overnight in teahouse
Day 10 : Finally we drive back from Syabru Bensi to Kathmandu (10 hrs), End of Trek.
